--- ## 1 · Start & Stop Times > "We are going to talk about two moments. The moment the work begins, and the > moment it stops. Everything in between we leave alone today." Verder niets zeggen. Laat de twee woorden even staan. --- ## 2 · One sheet per shift > "This is the whole document. One A4 per shift, three in total. No sentences, > only times and pictures — because it hangs at the quay and it goes to the > phones over WhatsApp. I will walk you down it." --- ## 3 · 06:00 → 06:45 > "The half hour after the sick call is the most important half hour of the day. > Somebody who calls at quarter past six cannot be replaced — then the gang > starts short and runs behind all shift. At quarter to seven the plan stands, > including the gaps." At 06:45 the GSV allocates gangs to vessels. At 07:00 the supervisor > allocates the men in the canteen. Two different things, two different people." --- ## 4 · 07:00 → 07:30 > "Here is the only real change for the morning shift: the canteen is empty at > quarter past seven. And half past seven does not mean standing on the quay — > it means the first move has been made." From half past seven the GSV walks the round. Every vessel, every workplace, > outside — not from the canteen. How you divide that between you is your call; > the procedure says nothing about it. What it says is that every workplace is > seen. Because if nobody goes to look, we assume the start instead of knowing > it." --- ## 5 · The fifteen minutes De gevoelige slide. Eerst de pauze, dan het kwartier. > "Planned — fifteen minutes, so supervisors and men expect the same thing about > how long the operation stands still. That is what the supervisors asked for. > It is not tied to a named prayer, because prayer times move through the year > and a quarter of an hour fixed to one prayer would sit wrong half the time." Those fifteen minutes come off the front. The shift still ends at 23:30." --- ## 6 · The break moved to 02:00 Je sterkste argument. > "The canteen is not the workplace. The gang left around ten past five, was > back around ten past six, and went out again at quarter past seven — while the > shift ends at half past seven. Of those last two and a half hours, about one > was worked. Moving the break to two o'clock recovers that time. Not one extra > man, and nobody works a minute longer." --- ## 7 · The stop > "Stowing gear, leaving the vessel, walking back to the clock — that happens > after the stop time, not before. And the handover is at the vessel, to the > incoming gang. Not at the gate." > "The GSV stays responsible until the end of his shift. The handover at half > past six is information, not the end of the duty. After it you go back to the > quay to see that the outgoing shift works through to the stop time." > "This already exists. One letter per position, every five minutes. Vessel, > hold, berth, shift, date and the observer on every page. Every stop over five > minutes gets its own line, with start, end and cause." We measure the process, not the person." --- ## 9 · Five minutes, one reason > "Five minutes' tolerance, and after that you write down the real time with one > reason. No names, no blame — only time and reason. In a month we look at > figures instead of opinions." Slotregel, en dan ophouden met praten: > "Weeks one to three we settle in. From week four the procedure simply applies." Leg het neer en zeg één zin: > "Three vessels, three different cargoes, and the same picture three times." Als het gevraagd wordt is dat één zin: *"Two shifts were incomplete, so they are not in there."* Niet verder uitleggen.
