Subject: Re: Start and stop times Hi Tom, Thanks for coming back on it. On one point I do have to correct the premise. The late starts and early finishes are not my personal opinion. They are in our production reports, shift after shift, and I shared those figures with this group in an earlier document. So the observation is not new, and it is not mine -- it is what our own reporting has been showing us for months. I am happy to circulate that overview again so we are all looking at the same numbers. And to be honest about it: we see it on the quay too, and we as GSVs mostly let it pass. I include myself in that. That is not because anyone is unwilling -- it is because nothing is written down, so nobody has to say anything, and a shift that starts twenty minutes late leaves no trace by the end of the day. That is a system gap, not a people problem, and it is exactly what this procedure is meant to close. On method: the procedure *is* the recording system. The tally clerks log planned versus actual start and stop, with a reason code for the gap. That is the structured observation you are asking for -- it is what the procedure exists to produce. Waiting to observe before we put it in place means waiting for the output of the very thing we are holding back. On input: every GSV was asked for three suggestions on where start and stop times could be improved. Not everyone replied, but a better handover and gang layout came back more than once, and that is in the document. So my proposal is the opposite of a delay. Let us start recording now, on all shifts, and bring four weeks of actual data to Crowne Plaza on the 21st. Then we are not discussing whether the problem is real. We are looking at numbers we collected ourselves, and deciding what to do about them. If the reason codes turn out not to fit what the tally clerks actually see, we adjust them. That is the point of starting. Kind regards, Leon
