VESSEL PRODUCTIVITY - C. STEINWEG OMAN LLC
Portable version for Windows. Nothing to install.

HOW TO START IT

   Double-click: Start Vessel Productivity.bat

A black window opens and stays open. After a few seconds your browser
opens the app by itself. The first start is the slowest one.

If the browser does not open, open it yourself and go to:

       http://127.0.0.1:31880

HOW TO STOP IT

Close the black window. That is all. Your work is already saved - the
app saves every change the moment you make it.

THE FIRST TIME WINDOWS COMPLAINS

Windows does not know this folder, so it will warn you once. Nothing is
wrong. You may see either of these:

"Windows protected your PC" (blue window)
Click "More info", then "Run anyway".

"Do you want to allow this app..." or a warning about an unknown
   publisher for node.exe
Click "Yes" or "Run". node.exe is the engine the app runs on.
It is the official Windows version of Node.js, unchanged.

If Windows asks about the firewall, you can safely click Cancel.
The app only talks to this laptop and does not need the network.

You do not need administrator rights for any of this.

WHERE YOUR DATA IS

Everything you enter lives in this folder, next to the app:

data\vessels.json all your vessels, cargo and gang figures
data\settings.json your rates and berth settings
data\backups\ the app's own copies, the last 60 saves

Nothing is stored anywhere else on the laptop, and nothing is sent
anywhere. If you move or copy this folder, your data comes along.

HOW TO BACK IT UP

Copy this one file somewhere safe - a USB stick, your own drive:

       data\vessels.json

That file is your whole administration. To put it back, close the app,
drop the file back into data\, and start the app again.

Copying the whole folder also works and takes the settings with it.

WHO ELSE CAN SEE IT

Nobody. The app only answers on this laptop. Colleagues on the office
network cannot open it, even if they know the address. There is no
password on it, which is exactly why it is kept to this machine.

THE VESSEL FOLDERS ON THE X: DRIVE

If you attach a folder on the X: drive to a vessel, the app reads the
newest productivity report out of it every half minute. That only works
while the laptop is connected to the X: drive. When it is not, the berth
board will say so per vessel and nothing is lost - it picks up again as
soon as the drive is back.

IF SOMETHING LOOKS WRONG

Close the black window, then double-click Start Vessel Productivity.bat
again. If the black window shows a message, a photo of it is enough to
   work out what happened.
